Hate Mongering Is Alive and Well in America

Be on alert. Let's not let this slide. Hold McCain and Palin responsible for the hate mongering that they've unleashed. This could ignite. There are darks hearts aplenty in this country--just waiting for a chance to explode. Whoever instigates American mobs into violent stupid acts of hate is the real OSAMA BIN LADEN. Let's shear the sheep's wool from this Republican Duo so the mob can see who they're following.

Religion and Politics

Christians forget that the separation of church and state is to protect religious freedom, not to demote it.

It is my opinion that the Christian beliefs that G.W. Bush demonstrates has hurt the Christian religion more than it has helped it. To see one man's political errors, his crimes against humanity, and his lies and distortions of reality for political maneuvering that has cost more American lives than what we lost during 9/11 is to see how the Christian Faith is exemplified in the world. I claim that neither G.W. Bush behaves in anyway subject to the teachings of Jesus, his favorite philosopher, nor should the Christian Majority embrace him or any other leader who uses their moral or social frustrations as a tool for political power. But it is the fault of those religious leaders who pressure politicians and press their followers to vote in one way or another.

And, they are still at it.

That the House of Representatives would pass legislation in order to legally promote one religion only sets the stage for further action for other religions. We are a fair nation. Justices will soon hear federal cases whereby Islam, Judaism and Paganism will demand to be recognized. (So they should be in this religiously political nation.)

This slippery slope is the fault of greedy-for-political-power Christians who could not see the best interest of their own faith and their country. The exaggerated persecution from right wingers (the hyperbolic "War on Christmas") and right-wing anger at keeping religious traditions out of public schools are essentially to blame.

Here is H. Res. 847:

"That the House of Representatives --

(1) recognizes the Christian faith as one of the great religions of the world;

(2) expresses continued support for Christians in the United States and worldwide;

(3) acknowledges the international religious and historical importance of Christmas and the Christian faith;

(4) acknowledges and supports the role played by Christians and Christianity in the founding of the United States and in the formation of the western civilization;

(5) rejects bigotry and persecution directed against Christians, both in the United States and worldwide; and

(6) expresses its deepest respect to American Christians and Christians throughout the world."

So here we go. One more step toward fanatical fundamentalism. Has not Osama Bin Laden and his crusade to fight "the heretical religion and to enforce his own" taught this nation anything? When we fight "The War on Terror" what are we doing if not fighting a religiously intolerant group of discontents who would like to see their religious leaders in power everywhere.

So we become that which we loathe. Hm, what an old story. Ironic, isn't it?

Shame on the House. Shame on "supposed" Christians. Would the real Christians quit serving in soup kitchens, helping the poor and doing acts of kindness in order to stand up to these substitutes and speak back?

Dear Osama,

Long time no hear from! Wish you'd write more. Was that really you on the last tape? (I can't trust the middle guys anymore.)

Ok, alright already. You've made your point. We give. Could you pull the crazies back now? Look at what your causing!

Look, I know you had a beef with us, what with all the money we were sending to Israel, and those troops in Saudia Arabia that you thought defiled Mohammed, and all that almost-genocide going on in Palestine with those U.S. financed guns and bullets popping off kids throwing rocks, and I know you didn't like the way we helped Saddam get all those WMDs to use against the Kurds. Yeah, we know you hated Saddam (he meant the devil to us because he was a socialist, the devil to you because he was an atheist), but could we drop all these minor quibbles for a moment?

I'm not sure you planned this, but we're in deep doodoo because of you. Do your really want a fascist U.S. having an excuse to bomb more Middle Eastern countries? And, you're being used over here as an excuse to crank up bad behavior toward Arabs here and abroad. I think things may have backfired for you.

Look, I'm not going to go all Jesus on you, but check out the writings of Mahatma Ghandi and Martin Luther King, Jr. Their situation was kinda like yours. They felt overwhelmed by enemies, a big government or by social crimes that demanded immediate attention, but instead of acting like their enemy, well, you know what they did. I don't know how you could do this, but I'm quite sure that violence is begetting violence. Your tough guy act is producing some hellava mirror images in my country. And, I don't like it.

I think a number of us over here would like to see those Palestinians treated better and for them to get some land back. But, our hands are tied; we're getting pinched and our Papa Supreme (no, I don't mean the pope) is slowly morphing into a fascist nightmare, and I don't see how this helps you at all.

So, could you do a big switchy-thing and announce that you're going to take the high road and prove that your religion trumps ours 'cause that ain't happening here. And, the world really needs somebody out there on that high road.

Write back if the answer is yes!

Love,
America
