I'm not sure why I didn't know this, but Joe McCarthy was officially reprimanded. Why wasn't he prosecuted? Surely, ruining lives and instigating fascist and anti-left propaganda that still reverberates today is somehow criminal behavior.
The note from history is: On Dec. 2, 1954, the Senate voted to condemn Sen. Joseph R. McCarthy, R Wis., for "conduct that tends to bring the Senate into dishonor and disrepute."
What is it that one says to this?
